Reader discretion is advised.)

and now, a piece for your consideration...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What Happened to All the Nice Guys?"
Date: 2007-11-19, 3:52AM PST

I
see this question posted with some regularity in the personals section,
so I thought I'd take a minute to explain things to the ladies out
there that haven't figured it out.

What happened to all the nice guys?

The answer is simple: you did.

See,
if you think back, really hard, you might vaguely remember a Platonic
guy pal who always seemed to want to spend time with you. He'd tag
along with you when you went shopping, stop by your place for a movie
when you were lonely but didn't feel like going out, or even sit there
and hold you while you sobbed and told him about how horribly the
(other) guy that you were fucking treated you.

At the time, you
probably joked with your girlfriends about how he was a little puppy
dog, always following you around, trying to do things to get you to pay
attention to him. They probably teased you because they thought he had
a crush on you. Given that his behavior was, admittedly, a little
pathetic, you vehemently denied having any romantic feelings for him,
and buttressed your position by claiming that you were "just friends."
Besides, he totally wasn't your type. I mean, he was a little too
short, or too bald, or too fat, or too poor, or didn't know how to
dress himself, or basically be or do any of the things that your tall,
good-looking, fit, rich, stylish boyfriend at the time pulled off with
such ease.

Eventually, your Platonic buddy drifted away, as your
relationship with the boyfriend got more serious and spending time with
this other guy was, admittedly, a little weird, if you werent dating
him. More time passed, and the boyfriend eventually cheated on you, or
became boring, or you realized that the things that attracted you to
him weren't the kinds of things that make for a good, long-term
relationship. So, now, you're single again, and after having tried the
bar scene for several months having only encountered players and douche
bags, you wonder, "What happened to all the nice guys?"

Well, once again, you did.

You
ignored the nice guy. You used him for emotional intimacy without
reciprocating, in kind, with physical intimacy. You laughed at his
consideration and resented his devotion. You valued the aloof boyfriend
more than the attentive "just-a-" friend. Eventually, he took the hint
and moved on with his life. He probably came to realize, one day, that
women aren't really attracted to guys who hold doors open; or make
dinners just because; or buy you a Christmas gift that you mentioned,
in passing, that you really wanted five months ago; or listen when
you're upset; or hold you when you cry. He came to realize that, if he
wanted a woman like you, he'd have to act more like the boyfriend that
you had. He probably cleaned up his look, started making some money,
and generally acted like more of an asshole than he ever wanted to be.

Fact
is, now, he's probably getting laid, and in a way, your ultimate
rejection of him is to thank for that. And I'm sorry that it took the
complete absence of "nice guys" in your life for you to realize that
you missed them and wanted them. Most women will only have a handful of
nice guys stumble into their lives, if that.

So, if you're looking for a nice guy, here's what you do:

1.) Build a time machine.
2.) Go back a few years and pull your head out of your ass.
3.) Take a look at what's right in front of you and grab ahold of it.

I
suppose the other possibility is that you STILL don't really want a
nice guy, but you feel the social pressure to at least appear to have
matured beyond your infantile taste in men. In which case, you might be
in luck, because the nice guy you claim to want has, in reality, shed
his nice guy mantle and is out there looking to unleash his cynicism
and resentment onto someone just like you.

If you were five years younger.

So,
please: either stop misrepresenting what you want, or own up to the
fact that you've fucked yourself over. You're getting older, after all.
It's time to excise the bullshit and deal with reality. You didn't want
a nice guy then, and he certainly doesn't fucking want you, now.

Sincerely,

A Recovering Nice Guy

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i saw this on one of the forums i frequent... when i first read it, i thought it was a pretty funny piece of writing... but then i got to thinking a little... about myself, that is...

it's true that not all girls are like how that guy described them... in fact, i know a lot of girls myself that would prove this guy wrong... but that's not the part of the post i want to address...

the part that i want to talk about is the nice guy part... which a lot of girls say i am... when i read the post, i got to thinking: "is that the reason i still don't have a proper girlfriend at my age? because i'm a nice guy, and girls rather be platonic friends with nice guys at my age?"...

took me a couple of days to come up with the conclusion i got...

it's true that i'm a nice guy... well, not a perfect one, but a nice guy nevertheless... but am i really?...

see, that's the reason why i don't have a proper girlfriend yet, probably... yeah, i'm not sure, but this is about the most solid conclusion i can come up with...

am i really a nice guy, or is that only a front that i'm putting up?... if i'm a real nice guy, will i remain a nice guy forever?...

those are the questions i came up with that needs to be addressed...

so, first question... no questions asked, i am definitely a nice guy... ask anyone i know, and they will all telll you the same thing... so by general consensus, i am a nice guy... unless i can fool everyone masterfully... frankly, that's something that even i doubt i can do...

second question... ok, so i'm a nice guy, but will i remain a nice guy forever?... my answer: why not?... i feel good about being a nice guy, so why change?... although i cannot vouch for myself in the future, but i'll try my best...

personally, for the girls that don't fit the description that guy wrote, i think the two questions are the reasons why i still don't have a girlfriend...

now the million dollar question that a lot of people ask me (that i even ask myself at times): when will i get a girlfriend?... well, it's kinda tough for me when all the girls i know just want to be friends, right?... and i'm not the type that like to hang out in clubs, so it's kinda hard to meet new girls... who knows, i might even have to wait till 30 before i get a girlfriend, and it wouldn't even surprised me (although 9 years is a long time... i don't know if i can survive alone for that long)...

but i'm not in a hurry... i just want the right girl (although i swear plenty went by already for me, but apparently i'm not the right guy)...

and this ends my yearly why-i-still-don't-have-a-girlfriend-and-couldn't-care-less-if-i-get-one-sooner-or-later-most-preferably-sooner post... see you next year, same place, same channel... if i don't have a girlfriend at that time, that is...

つづく
Tech Entry - A Swing and a Miss

For all the rumour-mongering out there about the iPhone coming to Canada, the rumour mongers really missed a big fish today.

Before I reveal what they missed, let me state some facts.

Fact: Rogers Wireless is the only network in Canada currently capable of supporting the iPhone properly., and Apple and Rogers were actively trying to come to terms in order to put the iPhone on the Rogers product map (rumour is that they already have a deal in place).
Fact: Future Shop and Best Buy never had Rogers Wireless in their stores before today.
Fact: Future Shop and Best Buy would carry anything Apple.

Now, let's put all those facts together.

It has been know for a long time that Apple wants to release their iPhone in Canada; however, there was one thing that stopped them from doing so: the ownership of the trademark. The trademark "iPhone" in Canada was already owned by another company, Comwave Telecom Inc., who uses the trademark for their VoIP phones. Nobody other than the companies themselves would know if this trademark dispute has been resolved yet.

Future Shop and Best Buy suddenly carrying Rogers Wireless can mean a lot of things, considering before today, they had every single wireless carrier other than Rogers in their stores. Personally, I think it means that the iPhone will be in Canada (officially) in a very short amount of time.

As I stated above, Rogers Wireless is the only wireless provider in Canada with a network currently able to support the iPhone. Future Shop and Best Buy would do anything to sell Apple products (because they're the biggest cash cows out of the crop), and would have to carry Rogers Wireless in their stores in order to do so. Today, both stores start carrying Rogers products. That, for me, is a smoking gun if I've ever seen one.

The only question now is when will the iPhone be here? No one knows for sure, but my gut feelings tell me Apple will be announcing the iPhone in Canada really soon, most likely by the end of this month. There is no evidence to back up my claims here, so don't take my words for it.

All I know is that I'm looking forward to seeing the iPhone in Canada (officially; I've already seen a friend of mine with one).I just hope the price of the phone and the price of the plans will not completely gut my wallet. God knows it was gutted already just recently.
You Can't Make This Stuff Up

so i was working today at metrotown, and during my break, i decided to
walk over to Future Shop and check out some stuff... on my way across the mall, i
saw a little confrontation.. and this is no teenagers fighting over a
girl... NOOOOOOOO, this is an old chinese man getting at some
caucasians... this is what i saw...

-----------------------------------

three
caucasians sitting on the bench, while a group of chinese people walked
by, with the one old man breaking off from the group and heading for
the caucasians...

the group looks back at the old man...

old man: (in cantonese) "you white people don't know what this is!"

the old man starts doing tai chi in front of the caucasians...

-----------------------------------

trust me, it's funnier in person...

that's just part of the confrontation i saw... i didn't bother to stop to watch the whole thing because i was short on time... probably something happened to make the old man go like that, but it's funnier not knowing what happened...
Almost two Included

seriously, i gotta update more often...

*looks at title of post, cue generic stand-up comedy starting line*

so i'm a human being, and as a human being, i have observed a lot during my daily life... one thing i have observed during my daily life is that a lot of people don't know what common sense is... webster defines it as a "sound and prudent judgment based on a simple perception of the situation or facts"... now, what i'm about to tell you might be graphic to those who lack the ability to make the above judgment... you have been warned...

i take the bus to work every day... and quite a few times, i take the bus during rush hour, so it is certain that there would be a lot of people wanting to board the bus at most stops... and of course, most of the time, there would be a person standing in the middle of the walkway partway up the bus, and therefore blocking access to the rest of the bus... common sense would tell you to either get out of the way so that people can pass you, or move up the bus yourself so that there would be more room for other people to board the bus... it never happens... they will have to wait until the bus driver tells them to move before they move... sometimes, even after the bus driver tells them to move, they wouldn't move... they have to wait till the bus driver singles them out in order for them to respond... is it really that hard for them to move up the bus?... to answer that question, i posed the question to a few people... in all cases, i got no response... looks like common sense is not the only thing that they were lacking...

in a day of work, i have to deal with a lot of customers... a lot of them ask questions like "what size do you have this in?" or "do you have more of these in the back?"... but some questions are not all that necessary...

one of the most frequent questions i get asked is "how much is this?"... let's assume for the moment that the items are not marked, but there are signs right above the items that tell of their prices, and they ask this question without even once consulting those signs.... how hard is it to tilt your head upwards a tiny bit and read out the numbers that are printed on there?... these are not even little kids that i'm talking about here... these are full-grown adults... nowadays, every time someone asks me that question, i pause for a second or two before i tell them... not because i'm pondering about the price, but because i'm pondering how mentally challenged you'd have to be to not be able to read a sign like that... yeah, i'm a mean bastard... but that's what you get for not using common sense...

another one of those questions would be "is this the fitting room?"... now, normally, that would not be that bad of a question, but most customers ask this question while pointing to a door with an "employee only" sign on it... seriously, do i even have to say this?... naturally, i just do the same thing as i would when people ask me "how much is this?"... coincidentally, those two questions would usually be asked by the same person... i think they haven't learn that signs are there to be read, not to be ignored... i thnk that would be part of what you'd learn as a part of, dare i say it, common sense?...

some of the funniest "no common sense" moments comes from specific situations... like the one i'm about to tell you now...

here's the setup: it's closing time, and two girls (both speaks really bad english... i presumed they're from eastern europe/russia based on their super-heavy accent) rushed into the store and asked me where the ski pants are... i directed them to the ski pants, but they were looking at the super-thin tearaways that we also have in a stone's throw away (granted, there are no stones to throw in the store, but you get the idea)...

--------------------------------------

girl 1: these good for skiing?
me: no, those will rip very easily. the ski pants are over there.
girl 2: these waterproof?
me: a little, but not for skiing. you need those pants over there
girl 1: these, how much?
me: $9.99. but they won't do much. you need those pants there.

*awkward silence*

girl 1: so these good for skiing?

--------------------------------------

that went on for about 5 minutes... and then another 5 minutes were spent on a jacket that is definitely no good for skiing (they were freaking huge and thick jackets, no joke) that costed $14.99... you can imagine the conversation, just replace the word "pants" with "jacket" and "$9.99" with "$14.99"... you definitely don't need common sense to ignore the salesperson... of course, unless the salesperson really don't know what he was talking about, but considering you don't know what you were talking about, i'd think they would've taken that chance and trusted me...

the really bad thing is that they said they were going skiing the next day... i wonder how badly it went for them...

it was pretty bad for me and my partner too... we ended up staying for an extra 15 minutes, and we don't get paid for it (we get paid based on our scheduled hours)...

all in all, the last five months of working there was interesting, to say the least... to be the only guy working there is not that bad either... of course, i had to do all the menial jobs, but it's not that bad... but i should really start submitting resumes to better places so that i can change jobs asap... and maybe cut down to only one job instead of two ièm doing right now... it all depends on the pay, i guess... it'd be a huge loss for nadex when i leave thought... i'm currently the biggest hours logger in the metrotown store for the last two months, and now they're giving me another half-shift to add to the half-shift i have on mondays... but it's pretty fun to work there, so i'm not complaining (that much... you'd think they'd raise my wage a little bit more by now)...

i should get to sleep now... i still have work tomorrow...

つづく

A Giant GMT

so it's been more than two months since my last update... and this is going to be a short one too...

last night, i went to my first vancouver giants game with jeremy
wong... let's just say it was the best time i had without consuming a
drip of alcohol (shocking, but true)... highlights of the night:

1.) a fight right off the opening faceoff (video is included in this post)...
2.) a game puck hitting someone just three seats away from me (i didn't get the puck)...
3.) a guy sitting beside me that is just learning the game of hockey, therefore didn't not get the jokes jeremy and i were constantly making (i.e. "that attendance is better than the predators'!"
4.) i got a giants jersey... from the shop of course... what, you'd think a player would just hand the jersey to me?...
5.) game went into OT and eventually into shootout... we lost in the shootout though...
6.) the game chatter on the bus on the way back home (i.e. "was sexsmith shaky tonight?" to which i replied: "shaky? that's an understatement!" loud enough so that the whole back of the bus can hear (he let in three goals in regulation time, all of which were ugly goals... he wasn't even in the net for the first one)...

i'm in a hurry, so i'll leave you with only this much... if you really want to keep up to date with me, use facebook and add me to your friend list... you can do this by clicking on my facebook picture on my page's sidebar...

and now, i'll leave you with the video i mentioned before (note to self: emotional hockey fans should not videotape a hockey game)...

<div style="background-image: url(http://s.xanga.com/images/videoplaceholder.gif); GMT

yes, i'm on that bandwagon...

so i guess it's been a while since my last update... so a quick summary of what happened since my last update for those who don't want to read that much:

-VC/LFA won the lower mainland tourney and are now in the provincials...
-i had to teach six new people at nadex sports, three of which either already quit or got fired... not exactly a good sign...
-memphis blues called me in for an extra shift this past monday... a shift which is right after my only exam...
-went drinking this past sunday night (yes, the night before the exam) because of a going-away party for one of the former employees at memphis blues...
-my only exam this past monday (i mention that twice already... make that three times now)...
-scouts is driving me insane... along with all the other stuff i had to do (like personal paperwork and the like)...
-hooked this page up with my facebook notes... so now people can read my posts here on xanga and on facebook...
-planning a "feature" for my xanga blog called "otaku no jikan"... roughly translated as "fanboy's time"... if you haven't guessed already, it'll be about japanese culture, mostly anime and manga stuff, but some music, and maybe some j-drama (whichever ones that i actually watch)...
-i'm on an "unwilling diet"... as in, i don't have time to eat...
-owner of L&G tea house asked me to be the manager of the new store when he does open one (some time during the next year, from what he said)...

ok, now that the "summary" is out of the way, time to get into the details...

so yes, VC/LFA got into the provincials, for those of you that actually cares... third year in a row, and fourth time in five years... hopefully this time we will actually get first place... second place is starting to get stale... there's a couple of people that we could've used to make sure we get first place (you know who you are), but doesn't matter... it's more of a challenge, but i think this year's team might just do it... if our new and improved boys' doubles B team can get it together in time, that is... at least the provincials will be in richmond this year, so i'll actually be able to go this time (have i said that already?)... i haven't gone to the provincials since our first time there...

work, is kinda torturing right now... the owner of nadex sports got back from china with new shipment, and he's not as friendly as his wife... at least i don't have to stare at his face all the time, though... i still prefer seeing his wife more, though... i can tell both the manager and the owner's wife both like me very much, because i'm currently scheduled for every single one of my available days throughout the holidays... i must be doing a good job... the three who either quit or got fired that i mentioned in the summary all either didn't tried or couldn't handle the pressure... it's probably a coincidence that they're all high schoolers... the thing is, though, out of all the people i've had to teach, only one of them (the one i taught today) was a guy... and the guy will not be staying at the metrotown location... this shows how desperately we need to employ more guys... now if only more guys applies at nadex...

btw, if you want to work at nadex and you know me, you can send me your resume and i might just be able to get you a job (i think my recommendation would hold a lot of weight)...

memphis blues, however, is starting to get more and more fun... first of all, because we got a new dishwashing machine... the old one takes 6 minutes to wash a load... this one takes only one minute... this leaves me with a lot of time to do the other cleaning... and other stuff... chatting with fellow employees being one of them... second of all, because i'm getting more offers of beer and other alcoholic drinks after my shift (or to be more exact, during closing)... exactly what i need considering the stress i've been experiencing lately... even better is this past sunday, when the employees who were on the shift went out to drink together after the shift was over because we were having a going-away party... i didn't drink too much because i had to take an exam the next day, but i did have a "kentucky nog" at memphis blues, and a whiskey and coke (i ordered a rum and coke, but my drink got mixed up with an fellow employee's) and something original recipe the bartender whipped up at the fairview pub...

it kinda make me sad how i will have to leave memphis blues and nadex sometime in the future... one of the reason being the owner of L&G tea house asking me to be the manager of the new store when he opens one some time in the next year... his exact words were (translated from chinese) "after my wife gives birth to our child" (which, from what i understand, would be their third child... i've seen their two other children before)...I'll probably take up on his offer after i graduate from BCIT (if i actually get to graduate this time around)... it'll have to be a full time job, but it'll pay until i get a better job... at least i can do my "side job" at the same time (my side job being computer consulting... i've made about $50 so far doing that, and i'm slated to get more, because one of my customers--out of two--is actually recommending me to her friend)... actually, if it pays really well, i think i might want to do that job for a long time to come... i actually want to work in the retail and service industry more now, because it's so much fun... i guess i'll just wait and see what the future holds for me...

my only exam was this past monday... i think i did just good enough to pass the course... here's hoping i did... k, i'm not going talk about school any more than this...

scouts is currently very tiring, considering i have many other things i have to do... i think i'm currently dedicating half of the time i'm awake to scouting...that's a bit too much for my taste... i'm hoping i can hold out for the rest of the year... i think i'm going to quit within the next two years for two reasons: 1.) because of the politics in scouting (yeah, there's politics in scouting, too)... 2.) because it reminds me too much of my dad, and he's the last person i want to be reminded of right now... currently, i want to see the group get stabilized first before i decide to quit...so it looks like i definitely won't be able to quit for a couple of years... at least not until our current junior leaders become full leaders... i think the current junior leaders is the crop we've been waiting for for the last few years...

like i said in the summary, i hooked this up to my facebook account... so whoever that has my facebook account will also be able to see this... not that i have that big of a friends network on facebook anyways... i'm too lazy to find my friends... i wait for them to find me... so for those of you reading this on facebook, konnichiwa!... actually, i guess it would be "konbanwa" now as i type this... oh well...

i know this is a long post, but i ask you to just bear with me a little while longer... i'm currently planning a "feature" on my blog called "otaku no jikan"... it would be a separate post, not part of a post that i would usually write (like this one)... like i said before, japanese culture that interests me would be in this feature... i'm thinking of making it once a month, but i don't know if that's too often or too infrequent... or maybe i sould write one when i feel like it... oh well, i decide later... what inspired me to do this are the anime series i'm waiting so long for... that and the movies i've also been waiting a long time for... for now, i'll just write a little bit about what i like at this point in time...

anime series i "desperately" want to see: NANA, bokura ga ita, bartender, black lagoon, kanon
movies i "desperately" want to see: NANA live action 2, 5 cm per second

not surprisingly, the anime series i really want to see are currently ongoing, but all the movies i want to see haven't even been released in theatres yet... and this is just a very short list... if i go into my long list, you would wonder how i even find the time to fit in that much stuff to watch...

man, is this ever a long entry... that's it for now... i hope the next entry would not be this long...

つづく

I'm broke

...or close to it...

this has to do with the new nintendo DS lite that i will be getting pretty soon (it has already been shipped, apparently)... and also the new 80GB iPod that i purchased today... oh well, at least that means i got two things off my "to buy" list...

luckily i paid for my iPod with the credit card that i just paid off... which means i don't have to pay for the iPod until two of my paycheque cycles have gone through... by that time, i will have the money to pay it off...

the fact that my manager at nadex told me today that i'm getting a $0.25/hr pay raise kinda helps too... or, at least, that's what i think she said... she talks too fast, but i did hear "8.25", "you" and "pay"... i think that's good enough for me...

now the priority items on my "to buy" list are the laptop and the computer upgrade stuff only... until windows vista comes out, then i'll have to get that for my desktop... i'm using vista RC1 right now and it has an expiry date on it...

currently, i'm looking forward to the vc/lfa badminton game on thursday... it's the tourney to determine if the team will get to go to the provincials... which is in richmond this year, anyways, so even if they lose, they can still go and watch (not like there are any reasons to go watch if they lose)... took the day off work just to go there... i think i mentioned that in my previous post already...

went to watch casino royale on monday bofore work... man, best 007 movie ever!... and the movie reviewers are right, daniel craig is amazing as james bond!... i feel sorry for the DBS though... not because it crashed (all 007 cars do that), but because it got so little screen time... i'm going to see borat before work on monday next week...

i also tried out the wii on tuesday at metro... i played wii sports tennis and excite truck... i got hooked on the tennis, but the excite truck game is just a showcase of the possibilities with the controller... the game itself is not that interesting... i just wihs i had the time to try out bowling and zelda too... oh well, here's hoping they will still be there next week...

i'm just going to leave it there for now... i have no idea what i want to write anymore...

つづく

The True Meaning of "POS"

so i finally had a taste of what it's like to work five days a week (actually, i had that experience back during pne time, but that was only a fairtime job, so that doesn't really count), and i gotta say, i'm enjoying it!... i guess it's because of the jobs that i have, but i'm having fun every day i'm working... yes, even if i'm doing dishwashing... actually, i have more fun doing dishwashing than selling clothes at nadex, because i'm friendlier with the staff at memphis blues when compared to nadex (there are more people my age working at memphis blues)... must finish school quickly so that i can work full time...

so i've learnt quite a few things on the job... here's a sample list of what i've learnt:

1.) "POS" system does not stand for "point of sales"... it stands for "piece of shit"...
2.) the customer is not always right... in fact, they are always wrong...
3.) watch anybody that smells bad, because they're most likely thieves...
4.) filipinos are the most likely people to make a mess out of a clothing store...

i've learnt a lot more, but quite a lot of them should not be mentioned here... it's just not right to mention the other stuff...

in the shopping list i posted in my last post, i mentioned that i want to buy the ds lite with two games... well, i ordered them from amazon.ca just last night, along with final fantasy V for the gba... that makes the DS lite and three games... costed me a total of $302.80, and that's including taxes (the shipping is free)... i researched it, it'll be cheaper than what i would have to pay if i bought all the stuff in-store... i won't be getting the rest of the stuff on the list until i've got the laptop, which will come in january... well, maybe i'll get something if the boxing week sales catches my eyes... but we'll have to see... at least this gives me some time to pad my bank account, so i won't be taking as big a hit... at least that's one major purchase off my list...

so vc/lfa badminton team finished their regular season today with a 8-3 win over lord byng... that makes their season record to 6-1... the next game for the team will be the independent playoff berth game... vc/lfa @ st. george's, with the tentative date being november 16th... i won't be able to go to that game, but victory is pretty much assured, barring any major accidents... after that game, the next game (given that we win the independent berth) will be the lower mainland tournament, which will be hosted by the independent school this year... which mean when the team makes it into the tourney, the games will have to be played at either vc or lfa (and it seems like lfa is the only choice right now, as the vc gym is completely booked)... tentative date for that is november 30th... i'll be taking that day off work... or at least, i'll be asking for that day off work so that i can go to the tourney... that means i'll get $52 less on that paycheque... oh well... small price to pay (well, not really, but it's something i'm willing to do)... i want to be there when vc/lfa clinches the provincial berth...

that's it for now... it's 12:30am and i still haven't eaten dinner yet... i'm going to grab something to eat now...

つづく

I swear, if I hear it 02 Nov 2006 09:07:27 GMT

query: hypothetically, if i have a girlfriend, would i be spending five nights a week, two of them weekend nights, working my butt off?...

answer: no, because i would prefer to spend the time with the girlfriend... i might want to work a few nights, but not weekend nights...

so then, why does everyone that hears me say that i'm working five nights a week always reply with something along the line of "earning money for your girlfriend, eh?"...

seriously, this came from everybody that heard i'm working five nights a week, from the young to the old, men and women alike... i'm getting really tired of people saying that... actually, i probably wouldn't mind if i really have a girlfriend, but being the single guy that i am, i'm getting sick of it...

well, at least i've heard some "trying to cover your own cost of living" or "got stuff you want to buy" kind of comments...

that's it for that "short" rant... you don't want me to go into the long version...

here's my shopping list before i can actually start saving up money:

1.) a new laptop (actually, got this ordered... i'm getting this through a friend's dad who can get a great deal because of his company's connection with toshiba... selling my current laptop to my mom, and will only have to pay approx. $450 of my own money for the new laptop)
2.) nintendo ds lite with FFIII and mario kart ds (well, at least those are the games i want for now)
3.) 80GB iPod video and accessories
4.) a new harddrive and RAM (for my desktop)
5.) a personal GPS

so i need approximately $1250 for these stuff... i think... maybe a bit more... either way, i won't be able to save up for a few more months, because i'm spreading out my purchases to make sure i'll still have money in the bank... at least the shopping list is shorter than what i have before (no more cellphone and accessories to worry about)... i actually wanted to get a PDA too, but i figured my current setup is good enough (cellphone as my phonebook, and a daily planner)... at least for now... i think i'll wait till boxing week to get 3 and 4... i'll for sure be getting 1 before the end of the month, and 2 might have to wait for a while... i'll only be getting 5 once i have everything else...

my now-confirmed work schedule:
monday - nadex @ metrotown - 4:30 to 9
thursday - nadex @ metrotown - 2 to 9
friday - nadex @ metrotown - 2 to 9
saturday - memphis blues on broadway - 5:30 to closing
sunday - memphis blues on broadway - 5:30 to closing

so my "weekend" is now tuesday and wednesday... and i still have to go to school on those two days, so it's not much of a weekend... oh well, welcome to the working world, i guess... if i want to earn money quick, i guess this is what i have to do... too bad it's minimal wages all around for me...

it's 2am right now... i should really go to sleep...

つづく
